Emma Kohlmann: Watercolors

Published by Anthology, Emma Kohlmann: Watercolors—the artist’s first comprehensive monogram—features a decade’s worth of intimate paintings, with essays by Audrey Wollen, L.D. Deutsch, and Mark Iosifescu.

We worked with Kohlmann to develop lettering, fore-edge and endsheet patterns, and other playful details to imbue the book with a sense of the artist’s hand.

Throughout the monograph, Kohlmann’s work is organized by color, with minimal solid color pages and page numbers subtly echoing this approach.

The book’s cover features three quarter binding mixing colored cloth and paper with diecut tip-ins on both the front and back. It’s finished with printed fore-edges.
